A masking film for the Polish SW-4 light helicopter in 1:48 scale. It covers the glazed cockpit from the outer and the inner side and is cut to the kit by the brand Aeroplast.
Responsibility details are not available.
The type designated SW-4 and nicknamed Puszczyk, that is tawny owl, is a single-engine multipurpose helicopter of Polish manufacture. It first rose into the air in October 1996 and received its certification at the start of the new century. It is powered by a turboshaft unit and the machine is used for training, for patrolling and for carrying a few people. The Polish Air Force acquired it as a trainer and a few examples went abroad as well. Compared with combat helicopters it is small, which on a model means that the glazing makes up an unusually large share of the whole shape.
The front part of the cockpit is one large bubble reaching down under the crew's feet and completed by side doors with large vision panels. The opaque areas begin only behind the seats. That proportion makes masking the key step of the whole build, because a badly guided edge is hard to hide and the frame is visible from every angle.
Outlines for the outer surface and the same row for the inner side are included. On a rounded bubble it is best to lay the parts on from the middle toward the edges and press them down gradually, so that the material stretches evenly. Apply the paint in thin coats and remove the covering while the last coat is still fresh. Leave the removal until the very end of the painting. Anyone who pulls the mask off sooner and then still coats the model with clear varnish will get a step at the edge of the frame whose sanding means cutting into the clear part.
You will not find the helicopter in the package. The product offered serves only for masking while the model is painted.
