Tiger I late series, cooling grilles 1:48 is a Hauler photo-etched set that will replace the solid plastic grilles over the engine compartment with a see-through metal mesh.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory, not a kit. The set in photo-etched sheet replaces the grilles over the engine and cooling compartment on the rear of the hull and is cut for a particular kit, the Skybow one. It is made by the Czech firm Hauler.
Grilles are among the most conspicuous places on any model of a tank, because you look at them from above. Injection-molded plastic can capture them only as an engraved structure on a solid plate; a real grille, however, is see-through and made up of thin flat strip. Photo-etched parts erase this difference and the rear of the hull suddenly reads credibly even in a close-up photograph.
On the rear of the hull the Tiger I had the engine radiators covered by grilles, which protected the space from splinters and at the same time allowed air to flow through. On the late production series the form of the covers and of the additional protective elements differed from that of the early machines.
The original plastic grille usually has to be sanded away or cut out so that an empty space is visible beneath the photo-etched part; then paint the inside in a very dark shade, ideally black-brown, as otherwise the view through will give away the white plastic. Glue the photo-etched part with only a few drops of cyanoacrylate at the edges. Spray the paint in thin coats, so that the holes are not flooded.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
