A purple-flowering grass mat in two sheets, intended for cutting into individual tufts.
Responsibility details are not available.
Heather on a knoll, chicory along a road, lavender by a farmhouse wall or thistles on an abandoned pasture: a purple flower can give a scene both a sense of place and a season. The mat brings it already scattered among the blades, so painting individual fibers is no longer needed. The sheet, 90 by 145 millimeters, carries growth ten millimeters high, and there are two of them in the package.
It is cut as the scene needs: a narrow strip along a wall, a round island in the corner of a garden, or just a pinch for a crack between stones. The manufacturer estimates two hundred tufts that you will cut from the mat, which is a supply that lasts a long time. After cutting it is worth disturbing the outline, because nothing gives the factory origin away as reliably as a perfectly straight edge.
You need glue to attach it, as the mat has no adhesive layer. On a smooth surface PVA spread with a toothpick is enough; in gravel and between stones a gel works better, as it stays where it is put. Press down and hold until the joint has set.
Purple tufts work best where there is a quiet area around them on which the eye can rest. When too many of them come into one scene, it loses its depth and starts to look like a sample card.
