An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:48 scale from Tamiya. The model faithfully captures the modern outline of the eight-wheeled Type 16 maneuver combat vehicle with its movable 105 mm gun. The detail includes antislip surfaces, a multipart machine gun with its mount and an eight-wheeled chassis with fixed wheels and rubber tires with a realistic tread pattern. A commander figure and decals are in the box.
The Type 16 is a maneuver combat vehicle of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force that began reaching units in 2017. It is a highly mobile and well armed wheeled vehicle intended for fire support and for fighting armored equipment within rapid reaction units. Thanks to a powerful engine it reaches high speeds on the road.
Finish the detail of the chassis before you close the hull. The vehicle is usually sprayed in the modern camouflage scheme of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, and the antislip surfaces come out well once they are picked out and lightly weathered. The decals reproduce the periscope apertures and the perforations of the muzzle brake among other things, and two marking options are available.
