The postwar American star with a red band inside the white bars, nine diameters in 1:48 for machines from 1947 to the present day.
Responsibility details are not available.
At the beginning of 1947 the American national insignia took on the form it wears to this day. A horizontal red band was added to the white bars at the sides of the star, meant to enliven the marking and to tell it apart from the wartime version. The change came, as it happened, at the time when the US Air Force became independent of the Army, so the new insignia became the visual mark of a newly created service as well.
Since then the marking has appeared on practically everything the US Air Force and the US Navy operate, from the piston machines of the end of the 1940s through the jet fighters of the Cold War to today's aircraft. The sheet will therefore be enough for an enormous number of subjects and offers nine diameters, from small fuselage insignia to large motifs meant for the upper wing surfaces of multi-engine aircraft.
On newer aircraft the surface of a model tends to be smooth and glossy, so a decal holds well, but irregularities in placement show all the more. Measure the distance from the leading edge and mark it with a pencil. On low-visibility machines the insignia is often painted only in muted form, which is why this sheet does not suit such subjects. On brightly colored postwar machines, on the other hand, it has served without reservation and the insignia stands out nicely on them. Keep the rest of the sheet in reserve, as you will meet this motif again. In the package you will find nothing but the decal sheet.
