This decal sheet in 1:48 scale from the Russian manufacturer Begemot offers national insignia of the Soviet Air Force in the form introduced in 1955. This form of the insignia was used until roughly the mid-1970s, so the set covers a whole generation of machines from that period. It is not a kit but a universal accessory for the main types of aircraft and helicopters; it comes in useful everywhere the decals from the box are missing, have aged or have been used on another model.
Varnish the area under the decal with gloss varnish, otherwise silvering is a risk. Cut the emblem out close to the edge of the print, soak it for a few seconds in lukewarm water and leave it to rest on a paper surface. Move it onto the model with a brush, line it up and soak the water away with a cloth. On wings with engraved panel lines a decal softener helps, as it pulls the decal down into the relief. Once dry, fix the whole model with a matte or semi-matte varnish according to the surface the machine is meant to have.
This is a supplementary decal sheet, not a kit. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
