1:48 First World War aircraft details is a photo-etched set of universal small parts for models already built or under construction, not a kit. It is intended for biplanes and monoplanes of the First World War period, where small fittings are in plain view and plastic substitutes look coarse.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set is not a model. It is a fret of small photo-etched parts that a modeler distributes over an airplane under construction according to their own documentation and needs. It is precisely with machines of the First World War period that photo-etched metal makes great sense: the structures are exposed, a lot of fittings are visible from outside, and the plastic form of the same detail tends to be an order of magnitude heavier than the scale calls for.
A wood-and-fabric structure braced with wires and steel straps means a host of small brackets, eyes, fittings and levers. In reality these have the thickness of sheet metal or wire, and in 1:48 scale their thickness works out at tenths of a millimeter, which injected plastic cannot manage technologically. Photo-etched sheet is therefore the only way to get a detail like that onto a model in an acceptable gauge.
Proceed one part at a time: cut it out, glue it on and only then take the next. Spray the degreased photo-etched metal with a thin base coat and choose a rather darker paint, because a small metal part is optically lost on a light surface. When tensioning the bracing, what proves its worth is to run the wire or thread only after the fittings are glued on and to tension it only once they have dried. Make the bends in a bending tool or between razor blades, and fine-tune sharp corners with the pressure of a fingernail.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
