The real subject

The set is devoted to German infantry of the Second World War. In a modeling scene the foot soldier is the most rewarding yardstick: the viewer knows his size by heart, so from him the size of the vehicle or aircraft the figure stands beside is grasped immediately. That is exactly why figures in 1:48 scale are added even to models that otherwise stand on their own.

What the set brings to the scene

Figures give a static display case a story. A figure turned toward the model, an outstretched arm or a glance to the side lead the viewer's eye where you want it. Painting tips

• Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and let them dry completely.
• Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a short distance from the part and sand the surface smooth.
• Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; on non-porous materials cyanoacrylate works well.
• Start with a primer coat, otherwise the paint holds less well on a smooth surface.
• Build the face and hands up in thin coats, as a single thick coat loses the modeling.
• Deepen the uniform with a darker shade in the folds and bring the edges out with a lighter tone.
• Replace deep black with a very dark gray or brown, which looks more natural at this scale.
