1:700 HMS Lively 1941, photo-etched parts is an accessory set of photo-etched parts for refining the model of the British destroyer from Flyhawk.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is neither a model nor a ship kit but an accessory. The set contains photo-etched parts from a thin metal fret, which replace the plastic parts of the model of the British destroyer in 1:700 scale where injection-molded plastic is inherently too thick, that is, above all the railings, meshes, ladders and platforms. The set is made by Flyhawk for its own model of HMS Lively as she was in 1941.
In small scales, photo-etched parts are the most effective way to raise the credibility of a build. The silhouette of the ship gains see-through railings and thin grillework, which in photographs of real ships give the superstructures their characteristic look. The effect shows above all from the side and when viewed against the light.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface, and never pull them out. For bending, use a bending tool or at least two razor blades and a metal ruler; metal holds a bend only when it is made along its whole length. Glue with super glue applied in an utterly tiny amount, ideally with the tip of a wire. Degrease the photo-etched parts before painting and apply a filler primer intended for metal, otherwise the paint does not hold. Install the railings as the last step of the build, so that they are not bent during handling.
An accessory set, not a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
