Fujimi 1:700 IJN Taiho (TOKU Easy) — a kit of the Japanese aircraft carrier with an armored flight deck from the simplified TOKU Easy line for a quick build.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi captures the aircraft carrier Taiho in 1:700 scale. The TOKU Easy line builds on a simplified design with fewer parts — a big subject, which an aircraft carrier undoubtedly is, can therefore be managed quickly and without frustration even with less experience.
Taiho, completed in March 1944, was the first Japanese aircraft carrier with an armored flight deck and a closed hurricane bow — the most modern carrier in design that the Imperial Japanese Navy built during the war. Her career lasted only a few months, however: in June 1944, in the Battle of the Philippine Sea, an American submarine hit her with a torpedo and the ship sank a few hours later as a result of an explosion of accumulated fuel vapor.
The flight deck is the dominant feature of the model — give its clean seating and even spraying the time they deserve, and bring out the deck markings only at the end. The hull comes out well in Imperial Japanese Navy gray with a fine wash around the detail. Miniature carrier aircraft in 1:700 scale will complete the model, if they are part of the package or obtained separately.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
