Artwox Model 1:700 a deck masking template for the Japanese battleship Fuso 1941 is a pre-cut mask for spraying a wooden deck on the Fujimi 401171 plastic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is neither a ship model nor a veneer deck, but a masking aid. The template is pre-cut to the shape of the deck areas of the Fujimi 401171 kit, so during spraying it separates the wooden deck from the metal areas without your having to cut masking tape laboriously along the engraved lines.
The proven order is to spray the shade of wood first, let it cure properly and only then stick the mask on and move to the color of the metal areas. The model has to be clean and dry; on a freshly dried acrylic coat a mask is apt to pull the paint off, so count on days of drying rather than hours. Once the mask is stuck on, press the edges down with a blunt stick or a toothpick: an edge with paint flowing under it is the most common reason why a result finally has to be resprayed.
Thin the paint more and spray in several thin passes instead of one thick coat. A lower pressure and a perpendicular spray prevent the paint from being pushed under the edge of the mask. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has set, not only once it has fully cured; the edge then stays crisp and the film of paint is not torn away with it.
The mask is cut for the Fujimi 401171 kit, so check the match with your version before buying. Neither the kit nor paints are included in the package.
