This self-adhesive wooden deck in 1:700 scale from the Kajika brand is not a model but a detail accessory that replaces the plastic deck of the base kit with a faithfully executed wooden surface. The precisely cut parts follow the layout of the deck planks and hatches of the ship Kirishima in her 1915 configuration and give the model a realistic look without the labor of painting the deck planks.
Kirishima was a fast battleship of the Kongo class of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Extensive wooden decks were among the typical features of the large surface ships of that era. The early configuration of 1915 differs in the details of the superstructure and the decks from the later modernized versions.
The wooden deck is laid on a degreased surface of the model, the parts are set carefully to the shape of the deck and stuck down with their own adhesive layer or with a thin layer of glue. For longer life and to unify the shade, the surface can be gone over with matte varnish. Work with a sharp knife and tweezers and lay the individual segments down one at a time.
This is a detail accessory, not the model of the ship itself. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
