This item is not a ship model. It is a supplementary set of small parts in 1:700 scale, which the Japanese manufacturer Pit-Road offers as a replacement for the coarser parts molded into warship kits themselves. The reworked edition designation means that this is a newer treatment of the first part of the range, with a finer rendering. The set serves to raise the detail of a finished model and assumes that you already have the basic ship kit.
Ship models in 1:700 scale are small, and it is precisely on the armament and the deck equipment that it shows most whether the parts match the scale. Separately produced parts tend to be thinner and crisper than components molded in one piece with a kit, so once they are replaced the finished model reads more convincingly. Sets of this kind are used both on models by the same manufacturer and on ships from other brands in the same scale, where equipment has to be added or replaced. The parts are genuinely small, so work over a light surface or over a tray that will catch a piece that flies off. Use a fresh sharp scalpel or fine nippers to separate them from the sprue and sand the sprue nub while holding the part in tweezers, not directly on the model. It works well to paint the parts while still on the sprue and then only glue the assembly on and touch it in. Glue with thin cement for plastic applied with a fine tip, so that it does not run over the surrounding deck. Finally unify the shade of the set and of the model with a light overspray, so that the added parts do not look like a foreign element.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. It is supplied unpainted; glue and paints are not included in the package.
