Die-cut masks of kabuki tape for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 F-2 and F-4 in 1:48 scale, in the EXPERT form.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109 F was an intermediate stage between the early and the late versions of this fighter aircraft, and it differed from its predecessors in the cleaner shape of the nose, the rounded wingtips and a tail freed of struts. The F-2 and F-4 versions differ from each other mainly in their equipment and armament, while their canopy glazing is the same, which is what matters for masks.
These are masks die-cut from kabuki tape, that is from a thin paper tape with a mildly tacky layer. It adapts well to a curve, holds on the edge of the frame of the glazing and leaves no adhesive residue once it is taken off. The set is listed in the EXPERT form; check its exact extent in the manufacturer's material, as well as the kit it is cut for.
The masks are stuck onto finished and degreased glazing before spraying, never after it. Lift the individual pieces out of the sheet with the tip of a knife or with tweezers, settle them and press the edges down carefully with a toothpick, so that paint does not creep underneath. Cover the areas between the masks with tape or masking fluid. Apply the paint in several thin coats; a heavy coat creates an edge that stays visible. Take the masks off soon after they have dried, at a sharp angle and rather with tweezers.
The set saves the most unpleasant part of the work on a cockpit, namely cutting the covering out of tape. It will be appreciated above all by anyone who builds several machines of this family one after another and wants the frames of the glazing to be equally sharp every time. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
