The set contains eight turned brass barrels for the American heavy naval gun of 406 mm (16 inch) caliber and 45 calibers length, the Mark 1 type. It is the variant intended for gun turrets fitted with canvas blast bags, which sealed the passage of the barrel through the turret. This armament was carried by the battleships of the Colorado class, that is USS Colorado, USS Maryland and USS West Virginia.
The metal barrels replace the original plastic parts of the kit and bring a perfectly symmetrical profile, a sharply turned muzzle and faithful dimensions. Fitting consists of cutting off the plastic barrel and seating the brass replacement in its place.
The material resists bending, holds its shape and once painted looks entirely realistic. The set suits modelers who want to raise the detail of the main armament without demanding alterations.
