Flyhawk — wooden deck for USS Missouri BB-63 in 1:700 scale is a set of thin wood veneer that gives a model of the famous American battleship a realistic deck surface with real wood grain.
Responsibility details are not available.
This add-on set from the manufacturer Flyhawk holds wooden decks for a model of the American battleship USS Missouri in 1:700 scale. The parts of thin wood veneer are precisely cut including the openings for the turrets, the superstructures and the deck equipment and are laid straight onto the plastic deck parts. Real wood with a fine natural grain gives the long decks of an Iowa-class ship a depth that is reached with paint only with difficulty. The set is made to measure for one particular kit — you will find its designation directly in the name of the product.
USS Missouri, an Iowa-class battleship with nine 406 mm guns, is among the best known warships in history: on 2 September 1945 the surrender of Japan, which ended the Second World War, was signed on her deck. The ship also served in the Korean War and, after modernization, even in the 1990s. It is precisely her wood-covered deck, on which the ceremony took place, that is today part of the museum ship at Pearl Harbor — a realistic rendering of the deck therefore has a special significance on a model of Missouri.
For ship modelers in 1:700 scale who want to build the famous Mighty Mo with an authentic wooden deck surface and lift the model to display case level without laboriously painting planks.
This is an add-on to a kit, not a standalone model. With kits other than the one stated the parts may not line up.
