A turned metal barrel in 1:72 scale from the Polish brand Aber, intended for a model of the German Jagdpanzer E-100 tank destroyer project. The set combines turned metal parts with a photo-etched addition and replaces the plastic barrel from the kit. It is not a model of the vehicle but a detail accessory. The gain is a perfectly straight and circular barrel with no parting seam and with a drilled muzzle, which on a barrel this long is especially noticeable.
The Panzerkampfwagen E-100 was the heaviest of the German Entwicklung series, a development program meant to standardize the design of armored vehicles at the end of the war. Only the chassis was ever begun; the complete vehicle never came about. The tank destroyer variant with a 170 mm anti-tank gun is one of the proposed paper projects that still appear in the modeling range today as so-called paper panzers. The description therefore covers a project, not a machine committed to battle.
Cut off the plastic barrel, level the cut and open the hole in the mantlet out with a hand drill if needed. Degrease the metal part and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy. On a long barrel it is doubly true that the alignment has to be watched, because even a small deviation shows on a finished model. Bend the photo-etched part over a sharp edge or in a bending tool, and give all the metal a base coat for metal before painting.
The set is an accessory to a kit; the model of the vehicle itself is not included in the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
