312th Squadron RAF, Part III is a set of modeling decals in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker AML Decals, devoted to the machines of No. 312 (Czechoslovak) Fighter Squadron RAF.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:72 scale for models of the aircraft of No. 312 (Czechoslovak) Fighter Squadron of the Royal Air Force. The set holds two color options including color drawings for the exact placing of the insignia, the identification letters and the national insignia. It is not a kit but an addition that turns an ordinary model into a specific historical machine.
No. 312 Squadron was formed in 1940 as the second Czechoslovak fighter unit in the RAF and at first flew the Hawker Hurricane Mk.I. It gradually re-equipped with the Supermarine Spitfire in several versions and carried the identification letters DU. The squadron went through the defense of British airspace, offensive sweeps over occupied Europe and escort duties, and became one of the mainstays of the Czechoslovak fighter wing.
British camouflage with sharp transitions rewards patient masking, so apply the decals only to a fully cured finish coated with gloss varnish. Cut the motif out closely, soak it in warm water and transfer it to a dampened spot, where it can still be adjusted into the right position. The identification letters on the fuselage deserve a check against the drawing, because their spacing differs from machine to machine. A decal softener helps to settle the insignia on the curved upper fuselage and on the tailplane, and a final matte varnish unifies the surface.
Decals are a modeling addition. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
