A waterslide decal with a four-color lozenge pattern for the lower surfaces of German First World War aircraft, in 1:72 scale. The opaque version covers the paint underneath.
Responsibility details are not available.
German aircraft from the later part of the First World War rarely had single-color fabric surfaces. The covering was sewn from factory-printed cloth carrying a pattern of irregular polygons known as lozenge. The pattern broke up the outline of the machine, saved work with paint and a little weight as well, and it came in four-color and five-color versions. Upper and lower surfaces were covered with cloth in different sets of colors: the underside was lighter, so that the machine was harder to pick out against the sky.
This sheet carries the four-color pattern drawn for the lower surfaces and for 1:72 scale. The version is opaque, so the pattern hides the color beneath it and the shade of the base does not have to be matched. The pattern transfers onto the model in whole areas at once, which is considerably faster than spraying through stencils and, in a small scale, more accurate as well.
The sheet is an accessory to a plastic kit in 1:72 scale. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
