This plastic kit from Hobby Boss depicts the 5P85S mobile launcher with 48N6E missiles from the S-300PMU anti-aircraft missile system. The model is made from new tooling and offers a faithful rendering of both the chassis and the erectable transport-launch containers. The package includes injection-molded plastic parts and decals.
The S-300 is a family of Soviet and Russian long-range mobile anti-aircraft missile systems designed against both aircraft and ballistic missiles. Its NATO reporting name is SA-10 Grumble. The 5P85S element is a launcher on a wheeled chassis that carries erectable containers with missiles ready to fire.
Assemble the chassis and cab first; the containers can be modeled in either the lowered transport position or the raised firing position. Use thin liquid cement on the joints. A base green or camouflage finish pairs well with fine washes to highlight detail and light weathering on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
