QMT 1:72 Aichi B7A2 Ryusei Kai (Grace) wheel bay paint masks is a masking set for painting the wheel bays of a model of the Japanese carrier-based attack aircraft B7A2 in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains self-adhesive masks cut to the shape of the wheel bay openings of a model in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit and it is not a resin accessory. The masks cover the finished interior of the bay at the moment the outer surface is sprayed, so that the boundary between the two shades stays sharp.
Compared with single-seat fighters the B7A2 was a large machine, so its wheel bays too take up a fairly large area in 1:72 scale. With larger masks it is easy to fold or stretch them while they are being fitted, which then shifts the whole outline. It pays to lay them down step by step, first with one side against a reference point on the model and only then to press the rest down. A folded mask is better thrown away than straightened, as a deformed die-cut will no longer sit on the surface.
The Aichi B7A Ryusei was a single-engine carrier-based attack aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service, combining the roles of torpedo bomber and dive bomber. Characteristic features were the cranked wing and the Nakajima Homare radial engine. The B7A2 version carried the designation Ryusei Kai, and the Allied code name was Grace. Only a small number of machines were built and their use was limited.
Spray the interior of the bay first and let it dry properly, and only then apply the mask and press its edge down around the whole perimeter. Spray thin coats and lift the mask off once the paint has set, slowly and at an angle to the surface. Check the specific shades in the instructions to the kit you are building.
This is an accessory to a kit. The model itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
