This is neither a kit nor decals but a set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the eight-engine B-52G bomber in 1:72. The masks are die-cut from a thin masking film on a carrier sheet and follow the shape of the pilots' canopy glazing, the windows and the other clear parts; circles for masking the tires are a usual part of such a set as well.
Cutting the cockpit frames by hand is slow and error-prone on a large bomber with a great many windows. Ready-made masks are simply lifted off the sheet, laid on the part and pressed down, so the frame comes out sharp and even on both sides of the model. After spraying, a mask lifts off easily and leaves no adhesive behind. The set markedly speeds up the work and removes the most common source of a poor finish on glazing.
Degrease the clear parts before masking and do not touch them with your fingers. Lift a mask off the sheet with pointed tweezers or a toothpick, lay it on dry and press the edges down carefully with a wooden stick so that the paint does not creep under. Spray in thin layers, as a heavy layer likes to peel when the mask is removed. Lift the mask off while the paint is freshly dry, not after a long cure. Correct any overspill with a brush and paint remover on the tip of a toothpick.
The set holds painting masks only. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
