This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale captures the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-1, that is the first production version of the Emil series. The designation JG.77 in the name refers to the fighter wing whose markings the boxing offers. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The contents of the package are stated on the box of the kit.
The Bf 109E was a single-seat single-engine fighter low-wing monoplane of metal construction, with retractable landing gear of narrow track and a liquid-cooled Daimler-Benz V engine of the DB 601 series. Against the older versions with the Jumo engine, the Emil brought higher performance and a reworked nose with radiators under the wing. The E-1 version was armed with machine guns only and preceded the later E-3 version with cannon armament. In its design it is a type of the end of the 1930s which became the most numerously built version of its time.
In 1:72 scale it is cleanliness of work that decides: cut the parts off with nippers at a distance from the part and sand the remains of the gate, so that the mating surfaces sit without pressure. Finish and paint the cockpit and the interior before the fuselage is closed up. Try the parts dry before gluing, as with models of this class it pays rather to fine-tune the fit than to fill afterwards. On the plastic use liquid cement applied with a fine brush once the parts are brought together. Coat the areas with gloss varnish before the decals and flatten them once dry. A small model will take only subtle weathering, as a heavy wash and pronounced emphasis of the panels come across as overdone at this scale.
