British national insignia derived from the dimensions of the Hawker Hurricane, 1:72 scale. A type-specific set for building an RAF machine.
Responsibility details are not available.
British national insignia changed several times during the war, and their diameters with them. Machines from 1939 carried a wide roundel with a prominent yellow ring on the sides of the fuselage, while on the upper surface of the wing they had a plain red and blue combination with no border. From the middle of the conflict, narrower variants with a thin ring came to the fore so that the marking would attract less attention from a distance. A set put together for one type takes account of how much room there really is on it.
The Hurricane was older in its design than the Spitfire: a tubular framework fuselage covered with fabric, a thick wing and calm flying characteristics. That is exactly why most of the combat sorties of the British fighter defense in 1940 were flown on it, and it has more victories to its credit than any other type of that battle. It stayed in service long after more modern machines replaced it in the front line, and it served from Burma to Murmansk. What is more, the tubular framework of the fuselage could be repaired in field conditions, which was not true of an all-metal airframe.
The model has the rib structure of the rear part of the fuselage indicated on it, and the marking has to settle over it without bridging. Smooth the base out with a gloss varnish, then, and help yourself with a decal softener while laying the marking down, so that the film is drawn into the hollows. Once dry, check that the edge is not standing anywhere, and only then unify the whole surface with a final varnish. The kit and the paints do not belong with the sheet; it is a separate accessory for a modeler who already has the machine under way.
