The UM 1:72 BT-7 Rocket Tank plastic kit captures the Soviet BT-7 fast tank complemented by rocket armament.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer UM, that is, Unimodel. The subject is the Soviet BT-7 fast tank complemented by rails for launching rockets. It is an unusual configuration that will not be confused with an ordinary BT in a display case, and at the same time a subject the large manufacturers do not offer.
The BT-7 was a Soviet fast wheel-cum-track tank of the 1930s. Its characteristic quality was high mobility: across country it ran on tracks, and once they were removed it moved on a made-up road on wheels, and very fast at that. In the prewar period a whole range of modifications was tried on the BT chassis, among them the addition of rails for unguided rockets placed on the sides of the turret. These were experimental and few in number and did not reach ordinary series production, but technically they show the direction Soviet development was taking at the time.
First finish the running gear and everything that will be inaccessible once the hull is closed up. Glue the thin rocket rails only at the end of the build, ideally after the base paint has been applied, as they are fragile and break off easily during handling. Use a thin cement applied into the seam with a fine brush. Spray the model with primer, apply the base shade with an airbrush and bring the detail out with a dark wash and a dry brush. Apply dust and mud with pigments, setting the dusty upper surfaces off from the muddy tracks and the bottom of the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
