A masking set in 1:72 scale for the model of the S-400 Triumf air defense missile system from Zvezda. The pieces go on before spraying.
Responsibility details are not available.
The S-400 Triumf is a Russian long-range air defense missile system. Its most conspicuous part is the launcher carried on a heavy chassis, on which the bundle of transport and launch containers tilts into the vertical. A model of such a vehicle has a large glazed cab and many wheels, and that is exactly where painting without masks goes slowly.
The pieces are cut to the shape of the parts of the kit and are stuck onto the areas that are meant to stay in their original color. Then you spray, and once it has dried the masks are taken off. The paint edge is therefore sharp and with no running over, which is hard to achieve with a brush on cab glazing or on the transition between the disc and the rubber part of a wheel. In 1:72 scale this difference shows on the result most of all, because any inaccuracy is large in relation to the size of the part.
The surface under the mask has to be dry and degreased. Press the piece down all the way round and work the edges down with a toothpick. Spray in thin coats; a heavy coat at the edge leaves a step once it comes off. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, not several days later.
For the modeler who builds modern Russian vehicles in 1:72 scale and wants sharp paint edges without laborious outlining. Paints, glue and the model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
