Plastic kit of the F-15J Eagle fighter of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force in 1:72 scale from Hasegawa. This release brings a special livery tied to Komatsu Air Base in 2018 and additionally holds parts for more finely rendered engine nozzles, which markedly lift the tail of the model: on a twin-engine fighter the nozzles tend to be the most closely watched area of all.
The F-15J is the Japanese version of the legendary American air superiority fighter, built under license by Mitsubishi. Since the 1980s it has formed the backbone of Japanese air defense, and the machines regularly scramble on identification flights over the Sea of Japan. Komatsu Air Base on the west coast of Japan is one of the key fighter bases, and its aircraft have repeatedly appeared in bold display liveries of the kind this edition captures.
Paint the detailed nozzles in metal shades: the basis is a dark metallic base, over which lighter metal tones are dry-brushed so that the structure stands out. Before applying the extensive special decals, spray a gloss clear coat; settle the decals with a decal softener so that they sink into the engraved lines. A flat clear coat evens the surface out right at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
