A set of precisely shaped painting masks from the maker SX-Art intended for plastic models of the two-seat version of the F/A-18D Hornet fighter-bomber in 1:72 scale. The masks make it easier to paint the canopy frames and the other transparent parts quickly and cleanly.

The real subject

The F/A-18D is the two-seat version of the multirole carrier-based Hornet fighter-bomber, used among other things for night attack and as a combat trainer. The double cockpit means more frames of glazing, which the mask covers.

Use

• Lift the mask off with tweezers and lay it exactly onto the frame of the glazing.
• Press the edges down carefully against paint running under.
• Paint with an airbrush or a brush and take the masks off once the paint has dried.
