An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat Fouga CM.170 Magister jet trainer in 1:72 scale from the production of the French brand Heller. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted and it is an undemanding kit, so it suits even as the second or third kit of a beginning aircraft modeler.
The Magister was one of the first trainers designed from the start for training pilots of jet machines. It first flew at the beginning of the 1950s, and you will recognize it at first glance by its tail surfaces in the shape of the letter V, the so-called butterfly V-tail, and by the slender fuselage with the seats arranged in tandem. It was powered by a pair of small Turbomeca Marbore jet engines. It was produced in large numbers and, besides training, it served in a number of countries for light combat duties as well; thanks to its pleasant flying qualities it often appeared with aerobatic teams.
On a two-seat machine the cockpit is visible along its whole length, so it pays to give it time: harnesses made of paper and fine shading of the instrument panels do a lot. Join the butterfly tail surfaces dry first and check the symmetry of the angle seen from behind; once the glue has dried they can no longer be aligned. Glue the clear parts with a glue intended for canopies, as ordinary glue for plastic will fog them, and mask them before spraying. Trainers often wear gloss finishes with prominent colored stripes, which call for a smooth base and a light undercoat, otherwise the paint will not cover evenly. Spray a gloss clear coat before the decals and unify the degree of gloss only at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
