It is not an aircraft model but an accessory to a kit in 1:48 scale that you already own. Quinta Studio prints the detail with a three-dimensional relief directly onto decal paper and supplies it finished in color. The modeler therefore only releases it, seats it on the plastic part and has nothing to bend or paint. Compared with photo-etch it is a quicker route to a full-color cockpit, and compared with resin there are no casting blocks to cut. The exact contents of the package and the number of sheets are given on the box of the set. The set is cut for the A-26C Invader kit from ICM.
The Douglas A-26 Invader was a twin-engine attack and light bomber aircraft with a crew of several men, which entered service at the end of the Second World War and, in modernized forms, served for a long time afterwards. The A-26C version had a glazed nose with a station for the navigator and bombardier, unlike the version with a solid nose fitted with fixed gun armament. The interior of the type is fairly roomy and with the canopies open more of it is visible than on a single-seat fighter.
Paint the plastic parts the detail will go onto with a dark base - light plastic showing through is the most common mistake. The surface has to be smooth, glossy and degreased. Soak the part briefly in lukewarm water, slide it into place and press it down with a soft brush. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer; the chemicals would attack the printed resin. Once it has dried, go over the area with a matte coat, which evens the sheen out and hides the edges of the carrier film. Always dry-fit the part to check that it sits before you soak it.
The set is supplied as decals on a carrier film. Paints, varnish and the base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Before buying it is worth checking that the set matches your particular kit.
