A set of six SC 50 aircraft bombs in cast resin in 1:72 scale, with decals carrying the bomb markings. It is an aftermarket accessory for models of German aircraft of the Second World War that will replace coarsely rendered parts from the box or supply the armament where a kit offers none at all.
The SC 50 was the basic German fragmentation aircraft bomb weighing around fifty kilograms, that is the smallest size in common use. The thin-walled body with a high proportion of explosive was intended against unarmored targets. The bombs were hung singly on racks under the fuselage and under the wings; on smaller aircraft, adapters were also used that carried several of them on one attachment. Depending on the production batch and the period they differed mainly in their finish and in the markings on the body.
Wash the mold release residue off the castings, cut off the casting blocks and level the area with a file. They are fitted with super glue. The simplest procedure is to paint and varnish the bombs separately, spiked on a stick, and to fit them to the model right at the end; that saves you masking and keeps you from breaking the fins. Apply the decals onto a gloss surface and, once dry, blend them in with the surroundings with a matte varnish. A light wash in the parting seam of the body and around the fuze gives the bombs a sense of scale depth without the risk of over-weathering the model.
The set is an accessory for a model, not a kit. Paints and glue are not included in the package.
