Metal barrel 5 cm KwK 39 for the Panzer III Ausf. M, 1:72

A turned metal barrel of the German five-centimeter tank gun with a barrel length of sixty calibers, for a model of the Panzer III in the Ausf. M version, in 1:72 scale. It is not a model but a replacement part. It is the long barrel that sets a late Panzer III apart from the early machines with the short gun, so it is a part that decides the shape.

Building and painting tips

Drill the opening in the turret to the diameter of the shank, so that the barrel seats square. In 1:72 the part is very small, so work with tweezers over a light surface. It is glued with super glue. Degrease the part before painting and lay down a primer, or the paint will not hold on the smooth metal. Fit the barrel at the end of the build.
