A set of mobile safety barriers in the Hasco style in 1:72 scale from the MAiM brand. This is not a kit of a vehicle but a diorama accessory, the portable fence panels that enclose building sites, excavations, closures and gatherings all over Europe. It is precisely such omnipresent elements of urban infrastructure that add conviction to a modern scene.
The barriers come into their own wherever a space has to be separated off: around a building site or an excavation, at the edge of a closed road, at a checkpoint, during a military exercise and in a civilian urban scene. In 1:72 scale they fill out modern vehicles superbly, a column of vehicles at a closure, a checkpoint or a secured perimeter. The panels can be arranged in a continuous line, angled into corners or left with one knocked over, which immediately adds dynamics to the action.
Clean the castings up, wash them and prime them. The typical finish of the barriers is light galvanized metal, which you catch with a light gray with a metallic cast and a fine dark wash in the grillework. The feet tend to be concrete or plastic, so set them apart in color. A little rust at the joints and dust at ground level will turn a new barrier into a worn piece of street furniture.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and may need a little cleaning up. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
