Exhausts with six separate stubs for the early Hawker Hurricane Mk.I in 1:72 scale: a resin detail from the Czech maker AML for a faithful rendering of the first production machines.
Responsibility details are not available.
This resin set from the Czech brand AML brings exhausts of the early type with six separate short stubs on each side of the engine, of the kind carried by the first production Hurricanes Mk.I. Most kits offer only the later collector exhausts, so this small casting in 1:72 scale is often the only way to build a faithful machine from the first years of service. It is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right.
The Hawker Hurricane entered service with the RAF at the end of the 1930s as its first monoplane fighter. The Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 has six cylinders in each bank, so early machines carried six separate short exhaust stubs on each side of the nose. Only later were they replaced by the well-known collector exhausts with three fishtail outlets. It is exactly the six small stubs that reliably mark out an aircraft from the prewar period and the first months of the war.
Separate the small castings from the casting block with a sharp blade and pick them up with tweezers, as resin is brittle. Glue them with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue only once the nose is painted. Paint the exhausts a burnt metal shade, add a rusty pastel pigment and darken the ends of the stubs lightly; the contrast with a clean camouflage looks excellent.
The accessory is supplied as unpainted resin castings and calls for a base kit of the aircraft. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
