Decals for the I-16 type 24 in 1:72 scale

A sheet of wet decals intended for modelers who build the Soviet I-16 fighter in the late type 24 form. The item is designated as the second part, and the first part also exists under a neighboring product code. Go by the list and the reference drawings enclosed by the manufacturer.

The real subject

The I-16 was a single-seat low-wing fighter with retractable landing gear which entered service in the middle of the 1930s and for its day represented a very advanced design. You will recognize it by its short barrel-shaped fuselage and the air-cooled radial engine in the nose. The type 24 designation belongs to the late batches. Machines of this line survive in photographs in a varied range of finishes and markings, which is the main reason builders reach for separate decal sheets.

How the decals are applied

• varnish the area under a decal with a gloss varnish; on a matte surface white edges arise
• cut the decal out as closely as possible to the motif and soak it for a few seconds in lukewarm water
• as soon as it releases from the paper, move it onto the model and press the excess water out with a soft cloth
• on a broken-up surface a softener helps, so that the motif is drawn into the engraved lines and rivets
• once it is perfectly dry, cover the area with a matte or semi-matte varnish
