Decals in 1:32 for the Messerschmitt Bf 109E-3 with three finishes from 1939 and 1940; a mask for the cockpit glazing is in the package as well.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Bf 109E-3 was the form of the German fighter with which the Luftwaffe entered the Polish campaign and with which, a year later, it fought over France. The recognition feature of the version was an armament arrangement with two cannons in the wing and angular cockpit glazing, which gave the pilot a better forward view than on the later machines.
The white 13 of the 3rd Staffel of JG 26 belonged to Lieutenant Walter Blume and carried a combination of the shades RLM 02, 72 and 65. The second machine, of the 1st Staffel of JG 3 of 1939, was flown by Lieutenant Hans Hahn and was finished in a dark scheme of RLM 70, 71 and 65. The third subject is the yellow 1 of the 6th Staffel of JG 51, flown over Belgium in 1940 by Josef Priller; the aircraft had its nose and rudder oversprayed in yellow and the base was the trio RLM 02, 70 and 65.
Besides the sheet of decals the set also holds a die-cut mask for the framing of the cockpit. It is stuck onto the glazing, sprayed over in the frame color, and once it is lifted off the edges stay sharp, which on a model of this scale markedly improves the final impression. The masking film is removed shortly after the paint has dried so that no adhesive is left under it.
