A plastic kit in 1:72 scale covering the modernized Japanese F-15J fighter in the state it reached after the changes of the J-MSIP program. The manufacturer is the Japanese brand Platz. The number of parts, the extent of the decal sheet and the particular aircraft covered are given in the instructions in the box, which you should follow before building.
The F-15J is the Japanese version of the twin-engine F-15 Eagle fighter, built in Japan under license and introduced with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, or JASDF. It is a twin-engine single-seat aircraft with a large wing, a pair of vertical tail surfaces and a cockpit with a good view, designed to carry out air superiority and air defense tasks. The J-MSIP designation refers to a Japanese program of gradual modernization of part of the fleet, under which the aircraft received newer avionics and systems. The outward sign of the modernization is a set of small but, for a modeler, significant differences in the details of the airframe and the antennas against earlier deliveries.
Proceed in the classic way: the cockpit and the nose gear bay first, and only then closing the fuselage — on fighters with a nose wheel, weight usually has to be added in the nose, or the model will sit down on its tail. Fill and sand the seams on the fuselage and the leading edges, and restore the engraved panel lines with a scriber after sanding. Gray air superiority schemes spray well with an airbrush in two close shades with a soft transition, and fine shading of the panels then brings the flat surface to life. Lay a gloss varnish on before the decals, work the panel lines once it is dry and bring the whole thing together with a semi-gloss varnish. Fit the weapons and the stores last, so that they are not in the way during painting.
