An accessory set for the moving surfaces of a model of the Japanese fighter Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien was an exception among Japanese fighters of the Second World War. While most of its contemporaries had a radial engine, the Hien was powered by a liquid-cooled inverted V12 Ha-40, a version built under license from the German DB 601. Hence the slender nose and the European-looking silhouette, because of which Allied pilots at first thought they were facing an Italian or German machine. It received the code name Tony. The late version Ki-61-I Tei, also marked as Id, differs from the earlier machines in a lengthened fuselage and heavier armament.
On the fighters of that day the rudder, the ailerons and the elevator had a fabric covering stretched over a frame. On a model that shows in two things: a different character of surface from smooth duralumin, and a fine sag between the ribs. Anyone who distinguishes these surfaces moves the result a step further, because the eye picks up the difference between metal and fabric before any other detail.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
