A masking set tied to the moving surfaces of a model of the Japanese fighter Kawasaki Ki-61-Id Hien in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Kawasaki Ki-61 Hien was a Japanese Army fighter of the Second World War. Among the Japanese machines of its time you will recognize it by an unusually slender fuselage with a drawn-out, narrower front end, which differs at first glance from the stocky outlines of the other types. The designation Ki-61-Id belongs to the later forms of the first production series.
The stencils mark out the moving surfaces on the model, that is, the ailerons and the elevator and rudder. You can therefore spray them separately, in a different shade or with a different degree of sheen from the surrounding covering, and the boundary stays sharp and directly in the paint. It is exactly distinguishing the moving surfaces that adds a great deal of credibility to a model in a small scale, because it is otherwise hard to suggest. The extent of the set and the recommended procedure are stated in the manufacturer's instructions; go through them before the first spray.
The base has to be dry and degreased, otherwise the mask will not take hold and paint will creep under it. Press the edges down all the way round with a blunt stick and spray thinly several times over; one heavy coat gets under the edge more easily and leaves a ridge you can feel. Take the stencil off while the finish is freshly dry and pull it at an angle across the edge, not straight up.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
