A version of the model of the Czechoslovak model 37 pillbox of type D1 in its reinforced form, this time without terrain: you get the object on its own, to be set into a diorama of your own exactly as you imagine it. The model in 1:72 scale comes from the Czech association ROP o.s., a specialist in models of fortifications.
The model 37 pillboxes, the famous Ropiks, were the backbone of the light fortification line that Czechoslovakia built feverishly in the years before Munich. Concrete objects with machine guns, laid out so that they covered one another by fire, were meant to slow an attacker down until the field army arrived. The reinforced form meant thicker walls and roof for greater resistance. The crew was made up of several men with machine guns, and the object was also protected by grille doors, ventilation and periscopes. Thousands of Ropiks still line the Czech and Slovak landscape today.
It is precisely the version without terrain that invites a scene of your own: the object can be sunk into a slope of hard foam, banked up with soil and planted with grass turfs, as was usual with the real Ropiks. Paint the concrete light gray with lightened areas, bring out the joints and the embrasures with a wash and dirty the foot of the structure with pigments. Figures of Czechoslovak soldiers or 1:72 vehicles will fill out the surroundings.
The model is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
