Peewit 1:72 Messerschmitt Bf 109E - spray masks

This is a set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks from Peewit in 1:72 scale, made for a particular kit of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109E (Emil) fighter. It is neither a model nor its parts: the masks serve for quick masking of the glazing and other surfaces before paint is sprayed and ensure sharp frames without the slow sticking of tape.

The real subject

The Messerschmitt Bf 109E, nicknamed Emil, was the main fighter of the Luftwaffe in the first years of the Second World War and the key opponent during the Battle of Britain. The framing of the canopy of this version is laborious to mask by hand, which is why a pre-shaped set makes the work markedly easier.

Use and tips

• Clean and degrease the glazing, press the masks down and work out any air bubbles.
• Cover the open areas with tape or a masking fluid and spray thin coats of paint.
• Peel the masks off shortly after the paint dries, while the layer is still flexible.

Who the set is for

• Modelers building the Bf 109E in 1:72 scale.
• Anyone interested in sharp canopy frames without masking by hand.
• Enthusiasts of German aviation of the early Second World War.

The set contains masks only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package. The masks are cut for one particular kit in this scale.
