The real subject

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was the basic German fighter of the Second World War and the G series formed its most numerous production wave. The G-14 version belonged to the late part of this series: it standardized equipment that had until then differed from machine to machine. On the late machines a taller sliding canopy with a better view to the rear and a taller wooden vertical tail surface came into general use.

What the sheet covers

The sheet is intended for models of the Bf 109G-14 in its late form in 1:72 scale. Which particular machines, units and color schemes it contains is given by the instructions enclosed in the package; use them also to check that the markings suit the shape of your model, because the late machines differed in the canopy and in the tail surface.

How the decals are worked with

• Go over the area under a decal with a gloss clear coat; on a matte surface air is held under the film.
• Cut the decal out close to the artwork and soak it in lukewarm water.
• Let it rest on paper until it begins to slide freely, and only then move it onto the model.
• A decal softener will help the decal settle into the engraved lines and over the rivets.
• Work one decal at a time and let each one dry before you start on the next.
• Once dry, go over the surface with a clear coat in the degree of sheen you want.
