This decal set from the Anetra brand in 1:72 scale brings the national insignia and fuselage numbers of the Mi-17, Mi-171 and Mi-24 helicopters in the form used by NATO armies. It is not a kit and not a finished model, but an accessory, a decal sheet which is applied to a model already built and painted from another kit. The 1:72 scale is the most widespread one for helicopters, so the set will find a use across the ranges of various manufacturers.
The Mi-17 is a transport and multipurpose helicopter derived from the Mi-8 type, and the Mi-171 is its export version. The Mi-24 is an attack helicopter which, besides its armament, can also carry a group of soldiers and is easily recognized by its stepped tandem cockpit and short stub wings. Both types serve in a number of countries which joined NATO and were gradually remarked to the new standards; the set is aimed at precisely that appearance.
In 1:72 scale the decals are small, so handle them with smooth-jawed tweezers and transfer them to the model on water, not with a dry hand. The base must be gloss, otherwise silvering threatens. Once positioned, use a softener, press the decal gently into the engraved lines and let it dry completely; only then varnish over it to the degree of gloss you want. Align the fuselage numbers against the engraved panels, which serve as a natural guide line.
