Masks for spraying the wheel bays of the Japanese reconnaissance aircraft Nakajima C6N Saiun in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Nakajima C6N Saiun was a carrier-based reconnaissance aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Navy of the end of the Second World War; the Allies used the code name Myrt for it. It was built with the emphasis on speed, so that a reconnaissance machine would have enough of it to escape from fighters, and it therefore has a slim, cleanly drawn fuselage. On a model that means few distracting shapes and all the more weight on the small details.
The package contains masks for spraying wheel bays in 1:72 scale. You use them to cover the bay while the surrounding area is sprayed, or, the other way round, to cover the surroundings and give the inside of the bay a shade of its own. How many pieces are on the sheet, how they are laid out and what material they are cut from is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The masks are applied before spraying, onto a dry, smooth and degreased surface. Press the edges down with a blunt tip, especially in the curves, where the film tends to lift. Apply the paint in several light coats so that no ridge gathers at the edge. Once it is dry, lift the mask off slowly and at an acute angle away from the masked edge.
It will be appreciated by modelers who build the C6N with the landing gear lowered and want a clean boundary between the bay and the lower surface of the wing without fine-tuning it with a brush. Check the fit in the manufacturer's data sheet. The model, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
