This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale captures the M1014 wheeled tractor on the MAN chassis in NATO service together with the launcher of the BGM-109G Gryphon ground-launched cruise missile. It is the newer version of the set from the manufacturer Modelcollect.
The BGM-109G Gryphon system was the ground-launched variant of the Tomahawk cruise missile, deployed in Europe in the 1980s as part of the NATO nuclear forces. The mobile launcher was carried by a heavy wheeled tractor of German design from MAN, which gave it good cross-country performance and let the whole combination be moved quickly. The system was withdrawn and destroyed after the treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range missiles was signed at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s.
Assemble and paint the chassis and the wheels first, and only then the superstructure with the launch canister. For a Cold War look the matte green and black NATO camouflage suits well. The engraved lines benefit from a fine wash and light dust weathering on the running parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
