HGW 1:72 P-47D Razorback over New Guinea, part one is a decal sheet with markings for American P-47D fighters in the early guise.
Responsibility details are not available.
The opening part of a decal series devoted to Republic P-47D Thunderbolt fighter aircraft in the early razorback guise, deployed over New Guinea. The sheet is intended for models in 1:72 scale and it is not a kit but an accessory to a kit. How many schemes it holds and which aircraft exactly it carries are not stated here – the enclosed instructions are binding.
The P-47D was a heavy single-seat fighter aircraft with a Pratt and Whitney R-2800 radial engine, a turbocharger in the rear part of the fuselage and eight machine guns in the wing. The early production series are recognized by the raised spine behind the cabin and the framed canopy. In the fighting over New Guinea the great range and the toughness of the construction came into their own; the machines there carried striking recognition features, which in modeling practice are reproduced precisely with decals.
First finish the model in paint and go over it with gloss varnish, so that the decals do not silver. Cut the motifs out as tightly as possible to the printing, soak them briefly and lay them down with a soft brush. Large areas on the fuselage are fine-tuned with decal softener, so that the decal settles into the engraved lines. Once dry, fix it with varnish and only then add washes and further weathering, otherwise the edges of the decal risk being damaged.
The package holds a decal sheet. The model, paints, varnishes and decal softener are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
