This plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Attack Hobby Kits depicts the German Phänomen Granit 25H light vehicle in the Kübelwagen version together with a Pak 36 anti-tank gun. It is a short-run injection-molded model supplemented by photo-etched parts and small accessories, so in a single package you get a richly broken down cross-country car and a towed gun. The set is intended rather for more experienced modelers used to finer cleaning up of the moldings.
The Phänomen Granit was among the light utility vehicles that the German army used from the beginning of the Second World War. The open Kübelwagen body served to carry officers and crews, but for want of heavier vehicles these cars were also used to tow the light 3.7 cm Pak 36 anti-tank guns. The combination of the car and the gun illustrates well the improvisation of the infantry divisions in the first years of the war.
Short-run moldings call for patience: first clean the parts of flash and sprue stubs and check the dry fit before gluing. Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic and fix the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a primer before painting; an airbrush suits an even coat. Final washes and pigments will bring out the breakdown of the chassis, the fenders and the gun carriage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
