Russian naval deck personnel 1:72, arrangement number 1 from Offset Scale Models is a small set of figures for deck and airfield dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of figures, not a kit of equipment. The maker follows it with a second arrangement of the same line and with a combined set of deck personnel, so you can widen the scene gradually. The number of figures in the package, their poses and the material are stated on the box. The figures serve to bring deck and airfield scenes in 1:72 scale to life — with equipment and no human figure the viewer judges the size worse, and that is exactly what figures in a display case solve.
Deck personnel see to the preparation of aircraft, the marshalling of machines while taxiing, the tying down of equipment and the operation of ground means. In naval operations the working clothing tends to be told apart by color according to the role, which on a diorama is used as a natural accent of color in an otherwise gray scene. The particular dress of the figures is not stated here.
Separate the figures from the casting blocks or the print supports with a sharp cutter; never break the arms and legs off. Sand the traces of the cut and wash the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap; on an unwashed surface the paint cracks and peels off. Then comes a thin base coat. Build the skin from a darker base toward lighter coats and only suggest the eyes — in this scale an exactly drawn eye comes across unnaturally. Leave the clothing matte and bring the folds out with a wash and a light dry brush. Finally a matte clear coat and possibly fine dust on the footwear, so that the figure optically merges with the base.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
