An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Sd.Kfz.233 heavy eight-wheeled armored car, nicknamed Stummel, in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian brand Roden. The vehicle comes from the eight-wheeled chassis of the schwerer Panzerspähwagen family and carries a short 7.5 cm gun in an open superstructure with no rotating turret. The model is finely broken up and holds delicate chassis parts; the exact contents of the particular package are given in the instructions in the box.
The Sd.Kfz.233 was the fire support version of the German heavy eight-wheeled armored car (schwerer Panzerspähwagen 8-Rad). Unlike the reconnaissance variants with a rotating turret, this vehicle carried a short 7.5 cm KwK L/24 gun fixed in an open superstructure on the hull, and from the short barrel came the nickname Stummel, meaning stub. The car had drive and steering on all wheels and a second driving position at the rear, so it could reverse quickly. It served as mobile fire support for reconnaissance units that needed to engage fortifications or lightly armored targets at once, and it was used above all in North Africa and on the Eastern Front.
First assemble the broken-up chassis of all eight wheels and axles carefully, so that the car stands straight and the wheels touch down. An open fighting compartment invites painting the inside before it is finished. Bring the short barrel and the breech to life with a dry brush and steel pigment. Supplement the sand or gray finish with shading, dark washes into the seams and dust pigments on the wheels and the lower areas.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
