This product is not a model but a turned metal replacement barrel for the Soviet gun of 122 mm caliber, the D-25T. It replaces the plastic barrel from the kit with a faithfully shaped metal part with a drilled muzzle and accurate geometry. It is intended for models of the Soviet IS-2 and IS-3 heavy tanks and the ISU-122S self-propelled gun in 1:72 scale. Aber is a Polish maker of turned barrels and photo-etched accessories.
The 122 mm D-25T gun was the massive weapon of the Soviet IS-2 and IS-3 heavy tanks and of the ISU-122S self-propelled gun at the end of the Second World War. Its heavy shell could punch through thick armor and break up fortifications. The sturdy barrel with its double-baffle muzzle brake gives a model a striking silhouette.
Cut off the plastic barrel and clean the area up, then glue the metal one on with cyanoacrylate glue. The metal part will give a straight, sturdy muzzle and an accurate seating for the muzzle brake. Degrease it before painting and lay down a base coat for metal.
This is a metal accessory, not a standalone model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
